Junior Fees
Are there any fees?

  • The fees for all junior age groups is $125 + $6.65 Insurance Fee. All payments are taken online when you register to play (please see the next section titled 'Registration'). The fees help cover the cost of your child playing cricket at Kilsyth including equipment such as match balls, insurance and Club affiliation fees.

Attire - Training and Match Day
What do I wear at training and on match day?

  • At training, players should wear comfortable sports shoes, tracksuit pants/shorts and an appropriate shirt (either a club shirt or white t-shirt).

  • On match days, all players must wear appropriate sport shoes, white cricket pants, the Club's playing shirt and cap/wide brim hat. They are advised to wear SPF30+ or above sunscreen each time they enter the field and reapply as applicable to protect them from strong sun exposure.

  • If you need merchandise, it can be purchased from the Club's merchandise manager who will have everything that you need. However, special orders must be lodged well before the season starts to ensure they arrive for Round 1 as they take a while to process, make and be delivered. These include personally named and numbered playing shirts. We have non numbered/named shirts for any new players who join the Club during the season.

Equipment

Do I need to purchase equipment to play cricket?

  • For those new to cricket that do not yet own the necessary cricket equipment, the Club have equipment that can be borrowed at the game or at training.

  • Alternatively, you can purchase your own equipment from your local sports store.

Parent Involvement

Coaching/Team Managing/Scoring and Other roles

  • Parents are encouraged to get involved on match days and at training.

  • Each team appoints Coaches, Scorers and Team Managers prior to each season commencing. If you are interested in any of these roles, please contact the Junior Co-ordinator prior to the season and have a chat.

  • You will require a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) if you are appointed an official role as team Coach.

  • If you don't want to be a Coach/Team Manager/Scorer, that is completely fine, there are plenty of other things that you can help out with in a non official way.

  • Ways parents can help in a non official way are as follows: Setting up the stumps, setting up the scoring table and chairs, sweeping the pitch and putting out the boundary cones for example.

  • These tasks are very simple to carry out which greatly assist the Coach/Team Manager and eases the load on them.

Weather Interruptions
What if it rains? Is there a heat policy?

What happens if it rains on game day?

  • Players are expected to still turn up to the venue as per normal schedule (unless advised otherwise by your Team Manager or Coach). As a general rule, always expect to play cricket regardless of what the weather appears to be like outside.

  • Players will need to wait at the ground and stay until the match is called off or can start.

  • Regarding heat policies, please refer to the RDCA Junior Handbook detailing acceptable playing temperatures for all competitions. The RDCA will notify

Season Duration
Is there a Christmas break?

  • The season spans from October to March with a break between late December and early January.

  • Yes there is a break. These dates are to be confirmed as per the fixture release but generally the last game prior to Christmas is the second last weekend before Christmas. The competition generally resumes in the third weekend of January.

  • Over the break, Representative cricket is played during this time. Hence, if your child is selected in a Representative cricket team, they will play cricket in early January.
